Sophomore Stock Market Whiz Proceeds to DECA Nationals
Sophomore Cody Roberts for advancing to the final round of competition in the DECA Stock Market Game.
Roberts, a student at Southeast High School, is the overall 1st round winner in the state and the only student in Georgia who qualified to advance to the next round. He is currently ranked 23rd in the nation.
According to the DECA website, the Stock Market Game is "an opportunity to learn hands-on about investing and the stock market. Using The Stock Market Game™ (SMG), members in the DECA Investment Challenge work in teams of one to three to create and manage virtual investment portfolios of stocks and funds.
“Teams with the highest percentage growth above or below the S&P 500 are eligible to attend the ICDC [International Career Development Conference], where they will defend their investment decisions at the SMG competitive event for a chance to be recognized at the ICDC Grand Awards Session.”
More information is available at the DECA Stock Market Game website.
Roberts’ next challenge comes in April when he advances to compete at the DECA International Career Development Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. Please join me in congratulating Cody and encouraging him as he prepares to represents Southeast Whitfield High School and Georgia at the international competition.
